10 Best First Trimester Must-Haves for Pregnancy

Before we can talk about the 10 best first trimester must-haves for pregnancy, we need to get that positive test! The first time you get a positive pregnancy test result can bring so many different emotions. Shock, joy, worry, or all the above. The first trimester can be a roller coaster of emotions.

As for me, both of my pregnancies was full of joy when I saw the positive test on that stick. We planned for both our pregnancies and waited for that moment to arrive. My pregnancies were 8 years apart so the second time around I felt even more emotional since I knew it would be our final baby.

I narrowed it down to my 10 favorite essential items for the first trimester of pregnancy. Both my pregnancies were different in that I didn’t have much morning sickness with my first pregnancy. This second time around I needed all 10 of the must-haves for the 1st trimester of pregnancy.

One of my favorite items from the must have list are the Preggie Pop Drops, they taste so good and helped with morning sickness. Ginger ale soda was my other go to item when dealing with nausea during the 1st trimester.

  • Preggie Pop Drops– These were my favorite for morning sickness. They taste so good too! I always carried them everywhere I went just in case I felt nausea or wanted something sweet to eat.
  • Ginger Ale- I needed this when I was experiencing morning sickness as well in the beginning. I normally like Ginger Ale as a soda choice so drinking it for my nausea was like a treat.
  • Saltine Crackers- When you’re hungry and can’t eat due to morning sickness, crackers help a lot.
  • Prenatal Vitamins– Aside from healthy eating, you need them for your baby’s development as well.
  • Reusable Water Bottle- Drink lots of water! You will be feeling thirsty all the time while pregnant and having a handy water bottle at all time is a must. Water also helps in delivery of essential nutrients to your fetus which is another reason you should drink your H2O.
  • What to Expect When Your Expecting Book– This book is one of my favorites to read during pregnancy. It provided lots of baby development information as well as how you would be feeling during each week of pregnancy.
  • What to Expect Journal & Organizer– I loved reading and writing in this journal throughout my pregnancy. It was also fun to read it back after you have given birth and reminisce on how you felt at the time.
  • Comfortable bras- Your breast will be experiencing some discomfort in the beginning and having some no wire comfortable bras is a must. One of my favorite style of bras to use were the ones from Kindred Bravely French Terry Racerback Nursing Sleep Bra for Maternity/Breastfeeding. I like those style bras since you can use them after pregnancy as well for nursing.
  • Pregnancy Apps- I love reading about my baby’s development every week as well as seeing the change in size of baby. The fruit and vegetable comparisons are the cutest! I also took my weekly baby bump pictures and would store it in one of the apps too.
  • Breath Right Nasal Strips– I was so congested especially during bed time. Sometimes the humidifier didn’t work as well on its own.
